DEEP END

DEEP END

On a drizzly autumn day, when up above everything was so misty to the extent that drops were formed, the giraffe took a dip in the ocean. She firmly placed her front legs on the beach as far apart as possible and put her head under water.
“Hey,” said the giraffe when she reached the bottom, “hello sting-ray!”
The stingray was startled and did not know how to react. Quickly he scrambled for possibilities, alternatives and streamlining, but all remained frightfully entangled in his head. No pennies were drop-ping and also the search for dimes resulted only in stinging thoughts.
“Whataya want”, said the stingray, when he thought he could no longer remain silent.
“I’m not here to disturb you”, apologised the giraffe. “I’m just looking for some depth.”
“Oh,” said the stingray relieved, “are you seeking the deep end? I can show you.” He swam aside a bit and pointed out a crack in the coral network.
“That’s the deep end,” said the stingray, “but most of those who enter, lose their head.”

You can continue reading in my book with fables that is published by BoekScout and can be found in their webshop.
The book is bilingual: Dutch-English and is titled:

HOE HET ZO GEKOMEN IS / HOW IT ALL CAME TO BE
psychologische fabels / psychological fables

*As in all fables, the stories mirror human behaviour. Through the animals’ characters, we actually look at ourselves and our society. The fables are contemplative, yet vivid and quite humorous.*
